David is a founding partner and Chief Investment Strategist at SPFG. In addition to leading the management of the firm, he serves as an advisor to clients and works closely with them in developing fixed-income strategies. He specializes in fixed income trading and portfolio implementation, high-level analytics, closed-end fund research and trading, and heads up the group’s research efforts and investment committee.
Prior to forming SPFG, David was managing director at a boutique investment firm in Atlanta catering to RIAs in the fixed-income markets. While there, he worked closely with many of the firm’s top clients, supervised all closed-end fund and ETF trading, and served a senior role on the investment committee. Prior to that, he held similar positions within First Union Capital Markets, McDonald Investments, and Register and Akers Investments in Atlanta.
David has been a featured speaker at numerous conferences, seminars, and client events sharing his fixed income expertise and articulating the firm’s strategies to a wide variety of audiences.
A longtime Atlanta resident, David is a graduate of Georgia State University, where he earned both a Bachelor of Science in economics and a Master of Business Administration. He also holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation.
David and his wife of over twenty years, Audrey, are proud parents of their children, Camille, Charlotte, and Colin. They enjoy following their children’s athletic and academic endeavors while also traveling around the world as a family. In his spare time, he enjoys the occasional round of golf, reading a good book, and watching an Atlanta United game.
